Job Details

Position Title: Financial Analyst (12 Month Term)

Team and Location: Finance Canada – Calgary, AB

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will work closely with various cross-functional teams to understand the business and finance systems within Canada. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with items including business analytics, insights & trends, data extraction & analysis, monthly and year end reporting activities. This position will work closely with the Finance Manager, Business Partners, Controllership & FPA within the Canadian Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide support for various projects and initiatives including system and process improvements, portfolio analytics.
  • Extract, analyze, interpret data; define trends and provide value added insight & recommendations.
  • Consolidate and analyze financial data – budgets and income statement forecast.
  • Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data.
  • Support the manager on various aspects of the budget & forecasting process.
  • Assist in the creation of financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional accounting designation or working towards designation is preferred
  • 2 to 4 years’ experience in a relevant financial or business analyst role
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, processes, and internal controls
  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Excellent computer and data analysis skills including Excel,
  • Experience with software including Oracle EPM, JDE or other ERP, PowerPoint & Think Cell
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to think outside of the box and excel in ambiguity.
  • Strong interest in understanding the business, providing support to operations teams as it relates to decision-making (customer service attitude)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter and enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in a high volume, fast-paced and evolving work environment
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved
