Job Details

The Potato Growers of Alberta (PGA) is a non-profit potato grower organization that aims to increase the success of the potato growing industry in Alberta. To accomplish this, the PGA works on three fronts: education and extension, promotion, and research. The PGA is the voice of the potato industry in Alberta.

Communications Specialist

This is a unique opportunity to ensure that PGA maintains a positive brand image while fostering meaningful connections with members, partners, and the public.

Responsibilities:

·        Strategic Communications & Brand Management

·        Social Media & Website Management including Content Development & Engagement

·        Newsletter Creation & Other Written Correspondence for Member Group

·        Collection & Distribution of News, Events, and Updates Relevant to Growers, Consumers, & Industry Partners

·        Stakeholder & Media Relations

·        Subscription/Application Management

·        Creation of Ongoing Photos & Videos for use both Online and in Print

·        Assisting with Promotional Materials for Public Education & Outreach

·        Other Duties as Required

Requirements:

·        Post-Secondary Education in a Related Program & 3-5 Years of Practical Experience 

·        Team-Orientated with Excellent Interpersonal Skills

·        Excellent Written & Verbal Communication Skills with Strong Attention to Detail & Accuracy

·        Graphic Design & Video Editing Experience

·        Technically Savvy with a Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Apps, and all Social Media Platforms

·        A Desire to Present the Message of the Organization to the Members and the Public

·        Creative with an Eye for Detail while being Deadline Focused & Process Driven

·        Valid Class 5 driver’s License and Reliable Vehicle

·        Ag Experience/Knowledge Considered an Asset
