Job Details

The Asphalt Quality Control Technician supports commercial excellence and operational performance for the Greater Calgary Asphalt market and will be required to design and submit completed designs that are compliant to City of Calgary and Alberta Transportation agencies. The HMA designs will be economical, and facilitate ease of placement for our customers. In addition, our quality control technician will be required to provide quality control checks throughout the production process. This will include but is not limited to making necessary plant adjustments to account for variability, monitoring production of raw resources, and ensuring correct binders are utilized to ensure compliance. The Quality control position will offer a high level of internal customer support and technical knowledge to operations, management, and with a high level of focus on our valued external customers. This is a seasonnal position; Civil Engineer student is encouraged to apply. 

 

Responsibilities                                      

 

Safety  

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
  • Reinforce the Lafarge safety standards and ensure 100% compliance at all sites
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety through proactive employee engagement in daily operational tasks

 

Operational Performance        

  • Daily management responsibility for the asphalt quality control team in the Calgary market
  • Support Quality Control Supervisor to obtain necessary objectives
  • Responsible for the collecting, compiling, and entering of quality control data
  • Work closely with Asphalt team and Performance Group on KPI tracking and product line benchmarking
  • Provide support to plant personnel to ensure delivery of the highest quality products
  • Work closely with our internal supply team to ensure quality in our raw materials

           

Commercial Excellence          

  • Understand customers requirements and establish effective relationships - based on quality products, services and convenience
  • Work with the operational teams to deliver the highest level of customer service

 

 Reporting       

  • Assist in preparation of mix optimization tracking data month over month to ensure maximum recycle percentages and to minimize HMA production costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly production activity reports and provide accurate month end reports in a concise and timely manner


Relationships with Others’ Jobs:

  • Close interaction with Sales personnel
  • Close interaction with After Sales Support

 

Qualification Profile:

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Post secondary degree or diploma, preferably in, Engineering, C.E.T or equivalent
  • Relevant combination of education and experience will be considered
