McMan South is a non-profit organization that provides social services to the communities of Brooks, Crowsnest Pass, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Pincher Creek, and the surrounding area of southern Alberta. Our dedicated team cultivates professional relationships with participants to ensure they have access to the opportunities they deserve, through 30-plus programs and over 200 staff in the region.
McMan is looking for a Term Mentor for the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) based in Pincher Creek, providing services throughout the Crowsnest Pass and Piikani Nation areas.
This position is 35 hours per week and will run from June 24 to August 16, 2024.
Here’s how you will contribute as a Term Mentor within the PCAP Program:
- Work with the team to provide a variety of services designed to support Indigenous woman with community connections; rurally, on reserve and in Lethbridge.
- Day to day intensive case management and service delivery using the PCAP Model and a participant-centered, harm reduction and strength-based approach.
- Supporting women with planned parenthood or gaining access to birth control and other health needs.
- Maintain all file documentation, accurate data collection and case notes.
- Complete participant customized case plans based upon available community resources.
- Provide crisis support and referrals for participants as required.
- Work with multidisciplinary team partners including community and cultural resources, among others.
- Be flexible and able to travel to respond to program needs.

- $19.00 per hour.
Here’s what you’ll need to get an interview:
- Working toward Degree/Diploma in addiction counselling, social work, child and youth care or related field.
- Education and/or experience working with Indigenous women, individuals with addictions and/or family systems.
- Knowledge of community resources on the Piikani Nation, in Pincher Creek and in Lethbridge.
- Due to Canada Jobs funder criteria, applicants must be between the age of 18-30 years old.
- Knowledge of skills and techniques known to help with behavior change including cognitive behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, leadership, and mentorship.
- Demonstrated strong communication and administrative skills with acute attention to accuracy and detail.
- Reliable vehicle, valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License, and minimum $2M third party liability insurance, Driver’s Abstract with less than six (6) demerits.
- Clear Police Record Check with vulnerable sector and clear Child Intervention Record Check date within the last six (6) months.
- Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate
